Rival Curo Report: NFL Teams (Februrary 2024)

🏈 With the 23/24 #NFL season done and dusted, let's take a look back to see how on the field success matched to consumer interest

⚡ Using #shareofsearch, we looked at US search volumes for each NFL team during the 2023-24 season.

We found a few things you world expect and a few things you wouldn't.

As you'll see in the charts:

- Wins on the field equal greater consumer attention & search:

Deep runs into the playoffs increased the prominence of winning teams, with the 49ers and Chiefs as two of the top 3 teams by average share of search. Winning simply creates more interest and more opportunities to be interesting.

- Taylor Swift did lift Chiefs search, but not as much as winning the Super Bowl:

While Kansas City transcended traditional football this year thanks to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship, branded search volumes reacted as much to winning as they did to the relationship. This is potentially due to two reasons: Swift fan interest going to other places than branded search and a focus on the player, not the team for new fans.
